I recently retired and have been using my time to pursue things that have always interested me but I had no time for.  I have been doing some volunteer work and am taking an art class.  I have always been interested in learning to paint, but was never really sure if I had any talent or not.  I am finding that this is something I have talent for.  So far my favorite part of the class was when we learned to paint Japanese scrolls.  I still have a long way to go, but they are so beautiful that I’m determined to learn.

Ever since my daughter was about ten years old, I have had a hard time connecting with her. She is just so different from me. I am quiet and shy, while she is loud and obnoxious. I always do what I am told, but she is constantly challenging authority. It seems like she spends all of her time defying me. I hate the fact that our relationship is so strained, though, and I plan to do something about it. I am going to try to get some Jonas Brothers backstage passes for her birthday this year, and we can go together. Hopefully, it will be a bonding experience she won’t soon forget.
