Roses of the Prophet
In the Muslim faith, depictions of the prophet Muhammed are strictly forbidden, so when a Danish newspaper published caricatures of Muhammed, the people of Iran became very offended. Danish pastries, which as very popular in Tehran, Iran’s capital, became a symbol of the country who had wronged them and therefore the confectioners union decided to rename them “Roses of the Prophet Muhammed”. Other Danish products have been boycotted and the images have caused angry protests all over the world. Ahmad Mahmoudi, a cake shop owner, showed his support of the boycott and name change by stating, “This is a punishment for those who start misusing freedom of expression to insult the sanctities of Islam.” file renamer
