Strengthening the muscles of the core of your body can help when you do stretches for lower back pain.  The core muscles are those that support and protect the spine and include the back, abdomen, and buttocks.  People who often experience lower back problems have weak core muscles which can lead to intense, debilitating pain.  If you exercise to strengthen your core muscles you will defend your spine against the effects of gravity and reduce, prevent or even eliminate all of your back pain. Take care when doing any exercises on a sore back, as it is very easy to make matters worse if you are not careful.
